St. Francis Hospital Offers Volunteer Opportunities for Teens

LITCHFIELD- The Junior Volunteer program at St. Francis Hospital again will offer service opportunities to area teens this summer.

Teens serving as Junior Volunteers perform a variety of duties at St. Francis Hospital, including transporting patients within the hospital, collecting patient food trays, making empty beds, reading to and writing letters for patients, filing, typing, and other duties in special areas.

Registration will be held Friday, May 18 between 6 and 8 p.m. and Saturday, May 19 between 8 a.m. and noon in the Hospital lobby. Each applicant must be (1) a high school student maintaining at least a "C" average, (2) a minimum of 14 years of age by June 1, and (3) willing to volunteer at least four hours per week during the summer program.

Each volunteer must return a written consent and signed statement of good health from the parent or guardian, purchase a Junior Volunteer shirt, and attend the orientation session in early June Individuals interested in future careers in the medical field are encouraged to apply; however, the program is open to any qualifying teen.
