Staunton Beats Bunker Hill 16-4 in Away Game
Beats Gillespie and Bunker Hill, but lets Greenville Slide By
STAUNTON - The Staunton Terriers improved to 6-1 on the season by picking up two wins over Gillespie and Bunker Hill and losing to Greenville. Staunton beat Gillespie 13-8 in conference action on the 28th of August. The Terriers were led offensively by Kory Szurek and Nate Colley with three hits each. A.J. Sitko and Austin Holloway each had two hits while Kole Billings and Devin Gerdes each added one. Nate Colley, Kole Billings, Austin Billings and Austin Holloway shared mound duties giving up five hits and striking out eight. Greenville came to Staunton on Wednesday and handed them their first loss of the season. Staunton collected eight hits on the day, but couldn’t get on the board as they fell 8-0. Kole Billings led Staunton with two hits. Nate Colley, Zack Augustine, Devin Gerdes, Billy Bartle, and Dillon Diesselhorst each added one. Staunton collected 22 hits against Bunker Hill and picked up a win in conference play Friday. Staunton scored seven times in the first and never looked back as they won 16-4. Kole Billings led Staunton with 4 hits while Dillon Diesselhorst, Austin Holloway, Devin Gerdes and A. J. Sitko each had three. Holloway and Gerdes each had a homerun. Tyler Finnegan added two hits while Kory Sczurek, Nate Colley, Matt Tingle and Josh Barnes each contributed one. Diesselhorst pitched five innings giving up eight runs on nine hits, walking three and striking out three. Colley pitched the sixth giving up no runs on zero hits and struck out one.
