STAUNTON–The Fifth Annual Lois McBride Memorial Women’s Softball Tournament will be held September 7, 8, and 9 at Decamp, here.

The 14 teams for the tournament come from Staunton, Carlinville, Aviston, St. Louis, Mo., Edwardsville, Belleville, Taylorville, and Breese, with the talent level to make this tournament the most competitive yet.

The double elimination tournament begins Fri., September 7, with the first game being played at 6:30 p.m. and runs through Sunday, with live karaoke on Friday starting at 9 p.m. The fund raising auction is set for Sat., September 8, silent auction table bids end at 5 p.m. and 6 p.m., live auction beginning at 7:30 p.m.

Donations for the auction will still be accepted up to 5 p.m. on Sat., September 8 and can be made by contacting Sandy Prante at 635-8681 or Sheri Compton-McBride at 637-2190. In addition to the action, there will be different raffles as well.

Monetary donations can be made at any time of the year. A list of items for the auction will be printed out for you at the auction.

Proceeds go to the Lois McBride Memorial Fund, which provides scholarships for Staunton seniors. We have given $10,000 in scholarships over the past four years and over $8,500 to area youth athletic organizations.
