Road Show Celebrates Kit-Cat Clock on Rt. 66
STAUNTON - A small piece of America rolled into this small Midwestern town here on Wednesday. Traveling down Rt. 66, the Great All-American Road Show with its ‘32 Ford and supply of Kit-Cat clocks made a stop at Henry’s Rabbit Ranch. The road show is celebrating the 75th anniversary of the Kit-Cat Clock. Woody Young, who has been with the clock company for 25 years, is the president of California Clock Company and the director of the Great All-American Road Show. Young and Dennis McLain, who is graphic designer and artist who designed the Kit-Cat car and website are taking a 75-day trip on old Route 66 to promote the Kit-Cat Clock and its history. Once the clocks were a favorite conversation piece. The eyes go back and forth as the tail sways. Young and McLain arrived in a Ford Deuce roadster painted with the clock and 75th anniversary logo. They also displayed a 75-inch tall Kit-Cat clock. The Kit-Cat clock is still made in the U.S. with parts being made along Rt. 66 and shipped to Los Angels where the clock is assembled. Those interested in buying a Kit-Cat Clock may purchase them at Henry’s Rabbit Ranch. You can also visit the websites and see the pictures of the towns the tour has already been through and find out their next stops. Their websites are www.gars66.com, www.kit-cat.com and www.californiaclock.com.
