STAUNTON - On May 22, Thumbelina, the world's smallest horse, will make an appearance in Staunton's Fireman's Park as a fundraiser to help the local no kill Adopt a Pet Shelter of Benld.

Thumbelina tours the country helping charities which benefit children. This little horse stands 17 inches tall and has been named the "world's smallest living horse" by Guinness World Records. Benld's Adopt a Pet Shelter helps many companion animals who have no owners and have been injured.

At this time the shelter is raising money for surgery for Stanley, a little Dachound mix who was hit by a car in Staunton. He suffered a badly broken leg which required complicated surgery by a Veterinarian who specializes in this difficult repair.

As well as visiting with Thumbelina, the fundraising event will feature many activities including Bianca and her trick horse Skipy, a magic show, puppy bingo, a Search and Rescue K-9 and instructor, and more. The event will run from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on May 22, Come meet Thumbelina, help Stanley and others and have fun.
