STAUNTON - Police here are investigating the breaking and entering of Fritz Drug Store on Friday evening.

Police say that someone broke into the back door. They think it may have occurred around 2:30 to 3 a.m.

The thieves were successful and took various drugs and narcotics. Apparently the thieves thought they were cutting a security system and phone wires were cut at a box near The Kwik Konnection newspaper office.

A rash of robberies and attempted robberies at drug stores have occurred in Macoupin County. Recently, an attempted break in took place in Mt. Olive. They were not successful in that break-in. A break in similar to the Fritz burglary occurred in Raymond earlier.
